This is your chance to make a difference by raiseing awareness and much needed supplies to make backpacks for homeless kids. We will be assembling 400 backpacks this year full of food, personal hyigiene kits and other supplies. These will go out to different agencies along the route of my 2200 mile walk across America this spring! If all that isn't enough to motivate you then keep in mind you will also get community service hours for the time you spend at the event. There will be a sign in and sign out sheet and you will get the amount of hours you spend. This event is completely planned, lead, and exicuted by kids under the age of 21. This is your opportunnity to make a difference on your own terms. The rules are simple. 1) No Cell Phones or other electronics allowed. 2) You are required to stay for the entire event and are not allowed to leave without prior arrangements and parental consent in writing. If you are 18 or older you can sign yourself out. Once you leave you are not allowed to return. (without prior arrangements being made) 3) You are not allowed to be in your cars or Best Buy during the event. 4) Parents are welcome but please don't bring your kids food, it defeats the purpose if you cator to them. 5) You are here to have fun but this isn't a party or a sleep over it has a purpose. Come for the right reasons and you will walk away with a better understanding of what homeless kids go through everyday. PARENTS: In case of bad weather please be advised your kids may be calling you to come pick them up. This is an outside event with no place to go in case of rain. The boxes can take a short drizzle as we learned last year but much more than that and you will need to come get them. They will be given there cell phones and asked to call you. We always invite and encourage parents to stay and help volunteer but remember this is a youth led project, we are just there to make sure no harm comes to them. Please be advised we only want kids to particapate if they are intersted in the project...Please do not force your kids to come! They wont have fun and we won't either.
