Zach's BIO
Zachary Bonner was born in Arkansas but is now living in Tampa, Florida. He is a student of Florida Virtual Academy and is in 6th grade. Zachary started doing community service in 2004 after Hurricane Charlie hit Florida. In 2005 he formed the Little Red Wagon Foundation a non profit organization designed to help underprivleged kids. Zach makes backpacks for homeless and street kids with food and supplies. He has distributed around 2000 so far across the country. Zach also helps kids in Title 1 schools by providing school supplies, books and candy for the teachers to give as treats. These products are distributed by Teaching Tools for Hillsborough Schools and other organizations. For the past 3 years Zach has been helping the kids at Renaissance Village and other smaller FEMA trailer parks in Baker, Louisiana. He has donated $8,000 worth of school supplies, toys, sporting equipment and books. He also held a Holiday party in 2006 and 2007 for the kids providing each with a toy and gift bag and their families with a Holiday ham donated by Smithfield Foods. The past 4 years Zach, wanting to get other kids involved in community service and draw attention to homeless youth, started hosting an event called 24 hours. This event brings together kids from across Florida to simulate being homeless for 24 hours, raising funds, supplies and awareness. In November of 2007 Zach walked 280 miles from Tampa to Tallahassee in order to bring awareness to the 1st ever National Homeless Youth Awareness Month. October 17th he set out on another 280 mile journey from Tallahassee to Atlanta to once again draw attention to Homeless Youth and also raise money to build a home through Habitat for Humanity for a homeless family. Summer of 2009 Zach completed his walk from His House To The White House.
Zach believes we all have the ability to make a change in this world if we just try. So in 2010 he is planning a Coast to Coast walk in which he will involve other kids and help fund their ideas to help homeless youth.
